Hibs have announced the signing of Azeem Abdulai, who joins them on a permanent transfer from Leyton Orient.
The terms of the transfer remain undisclosed; however we do know that Abdulai has penned a three-year deal with the Club, keeping him at Hibs until the summer of 2029. The move is subject to international clearance.
The 23-year-old midfielder becomes David Gray’s third summer addition, joining Jason Kerr and Callum Wright at Easter Road ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Glasgow-born midfielder came through the Celtic and Leicester City youth systems before beginning his senior career with Swansea City in the English Championship.
Capped six times at Scotland Under-21 level, Abdulai has spent the last two seasons with Leyton Orient, making 65 appearances in League One for the O’s.
Upon the arrival of Azeem, Hibernian FC Head Coach David Gray commented: “Azeem is exactly the profile we wanted – he’s athletic, aggressive, technically secure on the ball and will play box-to-box.
“We are delighted that he has been able to join the group here in Ireland at the end of the week so he can settle in with the squad and get up to speed as quickly as possible.
“He gives us more options in the midfield area and that creates a healthy competition for places. We are excited to have him on board and we’re all looking forward to working with him.”
Hibernian FC Sporting Director Malky Mackay added:
“I’m delighted to welcome Azeem to Hibernian Football Club. He has the qualities we look for in the players we recruit and is another young, hungry and determined player to add to the group.
“He already has valuable experience in the English Championship and League One for someone of his age. He’s another ambitious, young Scottish player coming into the squad and we’re really excited to see what he can bring to Hibs.”
