Acredale Industrial Estate
Written by Local Democracy Reporter, Paul Kelly
A housing association has submitted plans for 64 homes and a new office building in Eyemouth.
Berwickshire Housing Association (BHA) wants to build the homes and base on land north west of Acredale Industrial Estate.
The site lies on the western edge of Eyemouth, adjacent to existing residential neighbourhoods.
It comprises an open, sloping greenfield parcel extending to approximately 3.48 hectares.
A report submitted to Scottish Borders Council states that BHA proposes to undertake a programme of pre-application consultation comprising of two public events to commence in mid-June. The exact venue is still to be confirmed, with options including local schools and the town’s community centre.
The submission adds: “The development proposes approximately 64 affordable homes – comprising 54 houses and 10 cottage flats – for the community of Eyemouth, together with a new office building for use by BHA and associated landscaping and car parking.
“The scale of the proposals meets the criteria for classification as a major development.
“The proposals do not involve any building demolition; however, ground works and the removal of existing shrubbery will be required to accommodate the housing layout and proposed site levels.”
SBC has 21 days to respond to the housing association’s submission of a Proposal of Application Notice(PAN), before any full planning application is put forward.
