Bonnyrigg Rose girls U14 2012 Selkirk team lifting the Regional Youth Cup

This past weekend saw another cup final double header for Bonnyrigg girls with the clubs U16 2011 Manson and U14 2012 Selkirk teams both securing trophies in the Regional Youth Cup Finals in their respective age groups.
Taking place at Bo’ness United’s ground at Newton Park, the U14’s side played first as they defeated Boroughmuir Thistle 6-2 before the U16’s were 4-2 winners over Melrose. This meant that both Bonnyrigg sides came out on top, lifting League Cup trophies.
The win also made it an incredible four trophies returning to Bonnyrigg in just three weeks after the first team and girls U16 secured trophies three weeks ago.
The women’s first team won the Scottish Power National League Cup Final at Alloa’s Indodrill stadium, defeating Dryburgh Athletic in front of nearly 500 supporters. This was the clubs first ever appearance in major cup final since establishing the senior women’s side in March 2022 and the second piece of silverware after being crowned Barclays SWF League One Champions last year.

That same weekend the club’s girls U16 2010 Manson side also won their Youth Performance League Cup Final by defeating Arbroath 5-0, also at Alloa’s Indodrill Stadium, making it two trophies for the club in one weekend.
Bonnyrigg Rose Ladies Coach and Media Manager, Ryan Moffat, explained:
“It’s been a special few weeks for the club and everyone involved in the various cup successes. It shows the continued growth and development of the girls and women’s game at the club and shows how much talent there is at the club across the pathway with trophies being won not just senior level but across our youth teams as well, which bodes very well for the future.
“It’s a credit to the hard work of all of the volunteers, coaches and of course the players. Every one of them should be extremely proud of themselves, they’ve done the club and the town of Bonnyrigg proud. The girls and women’s game continues to grow and hopefully success stories like this will inspire more girls to get involved in the game at their local clubs.”
