Oxton Village reveals plans for a three-day ‘Oxstock’ festival featuring contemporary Scottish music and local community talent.
The Oxstock Festival will debut this autumn, with 3 days of high quality talent. Due to run between the 9th to 11th October, it will feature big names in the contemporary Scottish music scene alongside local community talent in a range of concerts, workshops and events for children.
Despite its small size, the village event will run at four venues with the main concerts and workshops taking place in the recently revamped village hall, live music sessions in the Tower Hotel, a concert at Channelkirk Church and a workshop at Bird Gardens Scotland.
The concerts will feature singers Blue Rose Code and Robyn Stapleton, Shetland musicians Jenna Reid with Harris Playfair and the Lauderdale Community Choir. Singer Karine Polwart will be in conversation with journalist Jemma Neville and there will be two children’s workshops featuring Claire Brennan and Jenna Reid with Iain Sandilands. The Friday opening event will be a dance night featuring the legendary DJ Yogi Haughton with the Sisters of Soul.
Oxstock Committee Chair Jim Tough said “Following the successful refurbishment of our village hall and new shop in 2025, the re opening of the Tower Hotel, and the continued success of Bird Gardens Scotland, we feel it’s an opportune time to tap into that positivity. At the heart of the project is the idea to offer local people and visitors a chance to enjoy a programme of high-quality accessible, affordable creativity and entertainment. There’s a lot of local talent in the area – performers, designers and experienced event professionals who have come together to make this first year a reality – it’s really exciting!”
