pothole located in the path leading to the underpass in Heriot, in Eildon’s Moorfoot Hills

Locals have been urged to take caution after a potentially dangerous pothole was spotted in a Borders village.

The pothole, located in the path leading to the underpass in Heriot, in Eildon’s Moorfoot Hills, has been reported to Scottish Borders Council’s pothole team.

A spokesperson for Heriot Community Council said: “I have reported this hole in the path leading to the underpass through the ‘report a pothole’ form for SBC.

“Please don’t walk near it. Underneath seems to be a large sinkhole. The space is a foot deep and it continues under the path.

“Another part of the tarmac to the side is sagging and soft. I have placed a step strip across the path as a warning.”
