A pay what you choose cinema pricing structure, immersive and compelling step dance, laugh out loud comedy, and the best tribute acts to music legends – The Brunton provides all this and more in East Lothian.
Cinema is back in Haddington from September with a regular programme of midweek movies at the Corn Exchange. Providing a warm welcome to all, The Brunton invites bookers to pay what they choose from £3 to £10. Film buffs can enjoy hit movie The Odyssey on Wednesday 2 September. Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland and Zendaya star in Christopher Nolan’s adventure following Odysseus’s journey home after the Trojan war.
The autumn brings further film titles including biographical drama Tony based on celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain’s memoir Kitchen Confidential, Andrew Scott in Pressure – playing Musselburgh born Captain James Stagg and French Film Festival title, Lost Illusions. All films are listed on The Brunton’s website.
Ever popular Andre Rieu is on the big screen at the Corn Exchange on Wednesday 16 September with his 2026 Summer Concert – Viva Maastricht, captured live for film in his home town. From timeless waltzes to soul-stirring classics, this is an evening of passion, joy and togetherness.
National Theatre Live screenings also take place in Haddington – these cinema screenings bring the best of West End theatre direct to the local community. The Misanthrope is screened on Tuesday 22 September at 7pm. Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) plays the title role in this razor-sharp re-imagining of Moliere’s classic dark comedy.
Deiseil: Dancing In Time is a new show about stepdance, Scotland’s percussive dance tradition on Sunday 6 September. It’s a compelling journey across centuries of tradition told through fiddle, feet, Gaelic song and story, in an immersive performance by dancer Alison Carlyle and musician Amy Geddes. Deiseil are also holding a stepdance workshop on at the Corn Exchange.
September is the time for joyous entertainment with highlights in Haddington including comedian Gary Meikle on Friday 5 September and fantastic tribute bands: And Finally…Phil Collins on Friday 11 September, Heaven Can Wait – The Ultimate Meat Loaf Experience on Wednesday 3 September and The Simon & Garfunkel Story on Wednesday 30 September.
The Brunton’s Bite-Sized Concerts series continues this autumn at Northesk Church in Musselburgh, offering audiences an hour of live music in a welcoming setting with a fabulous acoustic. Concerts now start at 1.30pm, and attendees are invited to enjoy a complimentary cuppa and conversation after each performance.
These relaxed concerts are open to all with the first of the series on Tuesday 13 October with Grace Skinnner-Stewart playing clarsach (Scottish harp), Trad compositions with a contemporary twist.
