Bin collections across the Borders are set to take place earlier in the day over the next two days as temperatures continue to soar.
Scottish Borders Council is urging residents to ensure their rubbish is ready to be picked up by 6am on Thursday and Friday this week – to protect crews working in the heat.
The Met Office is forecasting temperatures of up to 31 degrees Celsius in Hawick and Newcastleton on Thursday.
A Scottish Borders Council spokesperson said: “Due to the hot weather forecast this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, our crews may begin collections earlier than usual to avoid the peak heat of the day.
“Please ensure your bins are placed out for collection by 6am on your scheduled day to avoid being missed.
“Thank you for your cooperation.”
