A Macmerry community hub which has brought local people together for generations is getting a boost to its outdoor spaces thanks to support from a nearby housebuilder.
Macmerry Miners Welfare & Community Hub is being given new fencing and landscaping materials, with skilled workers from Cruden Homes’ team at its nearby Longniddry Village development also providing the labour to carry out the improvements.
The work forms part of the Hub’s ongoing programme to improve its facilities and create a more welcoming outdoor space for members, visitors and the wider Macmerry community.
The Hub and Cruden Homes worked together to identify where the housebuilder’s team could make the biggest difference, resulting in the donation of landscaping materials and the installation of brand new fencing.
The improvements will help enhance a community facility which has been at the heart of Macmerry for generations, providing a place for local people to meet, socialise and take part in a range of activities.
Stuart Fleming, President of Macmerry Miners Welfare & Community Hub, said the support would make a “real and lasting difference” to the facility.
He added: “Macmerry Community Hub has been at the heart of our community for generations, providing a place where people can come together, connect and take part in a wide range of activities.
“On behalf of everyone at the Hub, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Cruden Homes team at Longniddry Village for their generosity, support and investment into our community.”
Michael Palethorpe, Community Benefit Manager at Cruden Homes, said the company was “delighted” to support the Hub and its work in the local community.
He said: “The Hub is a valued asset locally, and we are pleased to be able to contribute materials, labour and advice to help improve its facilities.
