Spending a penny will be par for the course after go-ahead was granted for a composting toilet at a coastal golf club in the Scottish Borders.
Scottish Borders Council has granted approval to site the toilet on land south east of the 13th hole pond at Eyemouth Golf Course at Gunsgreenhill.
The plan is to install an eco-friendly WooWoo Waterless Toilet, offering an off-grid sanitation system that does not use mains water or standard sewage connections.
In his report approving the application, SBC planning officer Paul Duncan says: “Information online indicates that the composting toilet would operate ‘waterless’.
“There should be no adverse impact to the local environment and no likely significant effects to designated sites.”
Unique in the Scottish Borders as being the only course on the coast, located on the cliff tops of the spectacular Berwickshire coastline, Eyemouth Golf Club is one of the few courses that can boast round the year golf.
