When Scottie Sheffeler was discussing the week ahead, he spoke about the rerouting saying that the last few holes are now a ‘touch more difficult.’
Discussing the challenges of links golf he mentioned that the speed of the greens ‘take time to get used to’ explaining how they are ‘firm’ but ‘a little bit slower’ than the greens back home.
When asked about whether he wants to see different conditions over the course of the weekend in preparation for The Open next week at Royal Birkdale he said that ‘it doesn’t really matter’ however he did mention that the wind has a ‘significant effect.’
Overall, he feels that links is a ‘pure’ and ‘raw’ way to play golf and it is one the players ‘wish’ they could play more.
He stated that he can tell ‘why golf was invented here.’
In terms of staying on the East Coast for the week, he said that his family keep a ‘low profile’ describing it as a ‘relaxing’ week for the family and ‘a lot of fun.’ He also said how he ‘never really quite finds the time’ to play North Berwick.
He concluded his press conference stating, ‘I love the people and the fans, and I’m hoping I can come here for a long time to play.’
