Hibs manager Marink Reedijk, spoke to the press ahead of today’s premiership clash against Aberdeen.

Firstly, speaking on how big a win last week was against Hearts in the semi-final,

“The best thing for me is that we make sure that we can do, that we show that we can get a result in the way we play, that we can come back from one nil down, that we can play beautiful football but also do the dirty work.”

One of the hard things about being a manger is managing emotions and allowing your players to celebrate huge victories but keep focused on the upcoming game.

Reedijk said that it is important to celebrate these moments,

“Because we work hard and you can also party hard for an evening and then from that we need to focus towards Aberdeen.

“The thing for me is that we do everything in the highest possible intensity, from training sessions to matches.”

Reedijk however, was not out partying with the squad following Sunday’s Derby win,

“I went home and my girlfriend was there because she was over from Amsterdam.

“We just had a nice dinner, we ordered some food and we sat on the sofa with red wine and the food and watched a movie.”

When asked if it was hard to focus on his girlfriend and not reminisce what happened earlier in the day,

“No, for me, it’s always like this. This is my philosophy as well.

“I enjoy the moment when we are in the stadium and fully embrace it.

“But then afterwards, on the way back, I’m already thinking, OK, Aberdeen, what’s next? How can we do this?

“How can we make sure that we can make this again and again and again?

“And that’s sometimes bad, but also sometimes good, because I think that’s also healthy in my role to be focused on the next bit.

“And it’s up to the players to celebrate and then have the focus again.

“Like I said, these are special nights and you need to celebrate the special moments.”

He mentioned how there was a feel-good factor throughout the whole club this week and how it was important to him that the fans had something to celebrate,

“But also, to be proud of, not only in the result, but also in the way we brought ourselves to the fore in the two phases the game had.”

When asked about how good it would be to go into the international break with this winning feeling, he said that what is important is that the team make even more steps to where they want to be, just like they have over the last few weeks.

Further on this topic, in terms of when the team will reach the level he wants them too, Marink was very clear,

“I’m never satisfied, so we need to keep pushing.

“You will face different opponents, different ways of playing, different moments in a season, different atmospheres in stadiums, different weather conditions sometimes.

“So we need to be ready for everything and try to build a certain consistency and a certain hunger to do every time.”

When asked about what the most important thing is to start winning relentlessly like he did at Beveren last season, he said,

“Consistency, independent of the highs if you win everything, but also on the lows if you have a little bit of a bad spell.

“And it’s really, really hard to have the consistency constantly, especially if you have those highs. But good teams, and I think we are a good team, can make sure that they can be consistent.”

There are a couple of injuries in the squad which will affect the team for the game tonight in Aberdeen.

Grant Hanley is out at the moment as he has had to get an operation on his thumb, Reedijk described the solid centre back as a “warrior” saying Hanley didn’t see it as a problem and felt no pain but eventually it needed to be operated on, so his thumb could function properly again.

Adam Mayor will also miss Saturday nights clash due to a hamstring issue during training this week.

In better news, Reedijk plans to have Jordan Obita and Jacob Devaney return after the international break.
