Campaign trail for John Lamont

Westminster MP John Lamont has been unanimously readopted as the Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk at the next General Election – whenever it is called.
He said: “Representing the Scottish Borders in Parliament is an enormous privilege.
“I’ve always worked hard to be a strong voice for our communities, standing up for our farmers and local businesses, and making sure the Borders is heard at Westminster.
“There is still plenty more to do, and whenever the next General Election comes, I look forward to asking for your support to continue representing this fantastic part of Scotland.”
Mr Lamont has served as the Member of Parliament for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk since 2017, and has been Shadow Deputy Leader of the House of Commons since July 2025.
A General Election needs to be called by 2029 but there is speculation that new UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham will call one earlier.
Mr Lamont retained his seat at both the 2019 and 2024 General Elections.
