Plans have been re-lodged for the expansion of a Scottish Borders caravan park after an initial bid was refused.

Earlier this year an application for four new residential pitches at Springwood Village holiday park in Kelso was submitted to Scottish Borders Council.

The bid, from Hendry Estates Ltd, was rejected amid concerns over its impact on landscape character and residential amenity.

Now a new and revised application for just two new pitches is to be considered by planners at SBC.

Following detailed discussions with planning officers the current proposal has been substantially revised to address the concerns identified by the council.

In particular, the two pitches previously proposed adjacent to the site entrance have been omitted from the scheme.

The revised application now seeks consent for only two additional residential pitches located within the central part of the existing park where potential impacts upon trees, landscape character and residential amenity are significantly reduced.

A report with the application states: “The applicant has carefully considered the issues raised by officers, consultees and third parties and has prepared a revised proposal which responds positively to those concerns whilst continuing to make efficient use of land within the established residential caravan park.”

Springwood Village has operated successfully as a residential caravan park for more than 35 years.

The park currently accommodates 80 residential caravans together with associated roads, parking, landscaping and infrastructure.

The site operates under a residential caravan site licence and provides permanent residential accommodation.
