Residents across Midlothian are being invited to come together, meet their neighbours and celebrate what makes our communities so special at a free family event later this month.
Local MP Kirsty McNeill is hosting Midlothian’s Great Get Together at Danderhall Miners Club on Sunday 21 June, from 11am to 2pm.
This event is part of the annual Great Get Together weekend – a celebration of everything that connects our communities, inspired by Jo Cox’s belief that we have more in common than that which divides us.
Families will be able to enjoy:
– Football shoot outs
– Live music from a local brass band
– Dance performances
– A visit from Dalkeith Fire Station
– Arts and crafts for the kids
– An observation beehive
– Community stalls
– A local baker
Kirsty McNeill MP said:
“Midlothian is now the fastest-growing area in the UK, and I think it’s really important that we take opportunities to get together with our neighbours and meet new people.
“That’s why I’m delighted to invite folk to Midlothian’s Great Get Together. Whether you stay all afternoon or just pop in for a little while, it’s a great opportunity to find out more about the wonderful community organisations we have here in Midlothian, have a fun day out and celebrate everything that brings us together as a community.”
The Great Get Together is free to attend and open to all.
