La Clique performing at Edinburgh's Christmas

An Edinburgh-born circus and cabaret show is returning to the capital as part of this year’s Christmas celebrations.
La Clique Noël will take over a Spiegeltent in Bristo Square from Friday, November 20, bringing acrobatics, comedy, circus and cabaret to the city.
The show was originally born at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2004 and has since toured internationally, with performances in cities including London, Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore, New York and Paris.
The Olivier Award-winning production will perform six nights a week, with weekend matinees, until Sunday, January 3.
This year’s cast includes sword swallower and firebreather Heather Holliday, award-winning acrobat and aerialist David Pereira, and Mario Queen of the Circus, who combines comedy, juggling and crowd interaction.
The festive edition of La Clique will feature a mixture of circus, sideshow and cabaret performances in the intimate Palais du Variété Spiegeltent.
La Clique’s David Bates said the show’s return to Edinburgh was particularly special because the production was born in the city.

He said: “Christmas and Hogmanay feel like the perfect time for La Clique to return to its birthplace in Edinburgh.
“This very special cast are delighted to be in town for seven weeks, resident in the perfect environment which itself is the star of the show – the Palais du Variété Spiegeltent in Bristo Square.
“La Clique has played to millions of folk in its 22 years but none more special than the audiences in its Auld home toon.”
La Clique Noël is the latest addition to Edinburgh’s Christmas programme, with other attractions including Santa’s Stories, the LNER Big Wheel and the Around the World Starflyer already on sale.
The traditional Christmas markets will also return to Princes Street Gardens from November 14 until January 3, with stalls selling gifts, decorations and festive food.
More events are expected to be announced as Edinburgh’s Christmas programme takes shape.
