Midlothian’s Gala season continues this Saturday as one of Scotland’s oldest and largest traditional children’s galas takes place in Loanhead.
Loanhead Children’s Gala Day starts this Saturday at 8am when judging of the decorated house frontages commences.
The Gala Court members make their way along Clerk Street at 11.30 am, accompanied by massed bands. The Crowning Ceremony commences on Fountain Green at 11.45 am when Queen Elect Lily Hope will be crowned as Loanhead’s 114th School Queen.

The Grand Procession moves off from Church Street at 1.00 pm, accompanied by many pipe, silver and other bands and makes its way around the town to the Memorial Park. A huge programme of entertainment takes place in the park from 1.30 pm until 5.00 pm.
Attractions include, Wild Knights with their Border Reivers’ Show, 3-Sixty Cycle Stunt Team, W3L Wrestling, Chinese Lion Dancers, Think Circus, Dinosaur Invasion, The Kidzone with Tricky Ricky, Punch & Judy and Davro, Owl Magic, Menagerie Edinburgh, Pop the Bubbleman, Loanhead Library activities including Bookbug sessions, Face Painters, Batman and the Batmobile, Little Laughs Mascots, the Jacobites Ceilidh Band, Saltire Street Band, Commotion Samba Band, Pipe & Silver bands, dance groups, Cheer Evolution, lots of stalls and a large Funfair.
