New Melville Chair David Bond
Written by Midlothian View Reporter, Liam Eunson
David Bond has been chosen as the new Chair of Melville Housing Association, following the decision of Donna Bogdanovic to step down after four years in the role.
David, who has served on Melville’s Board since 2016 and previously held the position of Vice Chair, takes over at a time when the organisation is in its strongest position since it was established, with almost 2,150 homes now on its books.
Donna was elected Chair in 2022, during a period of significant change and uncertainty for the housing sector. Since then, Melville has continued to grow despite the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and the fallout from the Covid pandemic.
Reflecting on her time as Chair, Donna said: “It has been a real privilege to serve as Chair of Melville over the past four years and to see the organisation continue to develop and grow.
“I’m particularly proud that, despite the challenges facing the housing sector, Melville has remained focused on providing good quality, affordable homes and delivering for the communities we serve.
“I’ve worked with some fantastic Board members, staff and senior leaders during my time as Chair and I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to Melville’s success. I’m very pleased to be staying on the Board and to continue playing a part in the Association’s future.”
Donna, who lives in Bonnyrigg, will remain on Melville’s Board, where she has served since 2017, alongside her role as Depute Chief Planning and Housing Officer at Scottish Borders Council.
Melville’s new Chair, David Bond, is a Midlothian resident and director of an executive search firm. He previously spent eight years as ICAEW Director for Scotland. A chartered accountant who qualified with KPMG, he has worked in senior roles in the UK and overseas.
David said: “I’m delighted to take on the role of Chair at what is an important time for Melville.
“Donna stands down as Chair with the organisation in a strong position, and I’d like to thank her for the leadership she has provided over the past four years.
“I’m looking forward to building on that work with fellow Board members and the staff team, while keeping our focus firmly on providing good-quality, affordable homes and services for our tenants.”
Melville Chief Executive John McMorrow said: “I’d like to thank Donna for the commitment and leadership she has shown as Chair over the past four years. I’m delighted she will continue to serve on the Board and provide her experience and insight.
“I’d also like to congratulate David on his appointment. We’re fortunate to have such an experienced and committed Board, and I’m looking forward to working with him as Melville continues to grow and meet the challenges ahead.”
