Midlothian Council has launched a new fostering campaign this week to mark the start of Foster Care Fortnight which runs from 11 – 26 May.
The “Could You Be Part of Their Story?”, campaign highlights the powerful role foster carers play in shaping the lives of children and young people.
At the heart of the campaign is a simple but meaningful message: when you become a foster carer, you don’t just provide a home, you become a chapter in a child’s life story. The visuals shows carers of different backgrounds sharing special moments with children, reading stories together, to reflect both the importance of quality time and the deeper idea of becoming part of a young person’s journey. Creative activities, such as reading together can build connections which can have a lasting impact on a child’s confidence, wellbeing and sense of security.
Midlothian residents will see the campaign across the local area, with eye-catching lamppost wraps, as well as posters and leaflets available in community spaces including libraries, leisure centres, GP surgeries and other local venues. The campaign will also feature on the council’s social media platforms.
People from a wide range of backgrounds can become foster carers for Midlothian Council.

The council is encouraging anyone who has ever thought about fostering, or who feels inspired by the campaign, to take the next step and learn more during Foster Care Fortnight.
