Midlothian football teams have an increased appetite for success in the new season after sealing sponsorship deals with two of Scotland’s top restaurants.
Multi award-winning Indian style restaurants Itihaas and Radhuni have announced they are sponsoring Bonnyrigg Rose, Dalkeith Thistle, Penicuik Athletic and Loanhead Miners. Both restaurants are regularly named in the ‘Hot Hundred’ of the UK’s best curry houses and recently won the titles of Best Curry Restaurant and Chef in Scotland.
The Radhuni is also one of only a handful of Indian restaurants in Scotland to have been awarded an AA Rosette for culinary excellence.
“Support from businesses like The Radhuni and Itihaas means so much to us,” said Donald Cameron, Sponsor Liaison at Bonnyrigg Rose who play in the Lowland League East and are fighting to return to the Scottish Professional Football League.
“These are challenging times for businesses so for them to continue supporting us year after year is something for which we’re incredibly grateful,” he added.
Welcoming the deal, Andy Penman, President of East of Scotland League Premier Division team Penicuik Athletic, commented: “We hope the support of these award winning restaurants is matched by winning teams at the club. It allows us to continue to develop on all fronts.”
Matin Khan, the restaurants’ founder and Executive Chef, said: ”We’ve always believed that successful local businesses have a responsibility to give something back to the communities that support them. This shows what can be achieved when a community pulls in the same direction.”
His son, Managing Director Habibur, added: “These club represent so much more than what happens on a weekend afternoon – they’re built on volunteers, families, young people, friendship and a community that comes together when it’s needed most. We’re honoured to play our small part in helping them.”
Echoing the sentiment, Connor Smith of Edinburgh and Lothians Amateur League club Loanhead Miners said the sponsorship would help pay for costs of refereeing and hire of the Council ground at the town’s Memorial Park in the town.

Rafael Mendes, spokesperson for Dalkeith Thistle who play in the East of Scotland League, stated: “We’re delighted to have Itihaas supporting us this season. It’s fantastic to build relationships with local businesses who want to support the club and be part of the local community.”
