Midlothian Raiders made a winning start to their 2026/27 campaign, securing a hard-fought 57–50 victory over Southside Cartographers on Friday 11th September.
Following promotion after an impressive inaugural season, the Raiders stepped up to their new challenge with a composed performance, overcoming a competitive Cartographers side to get their first win of the season on the board.
The fixture also marked the Raiders debuts of new additions Fraser Sharp and Owen Ray, with both settling quickly into the squad and making an immediate contribution. Ray’s performance earned him the Raiders’ MVP nomination on his competitive debut.
The result provides an encouraging start for a Raiders team looking to build on the momentum of last season. After finishing second and reaching the playoff semi-finals in their first year of competitive basketball, the club is now looking to establish itself at the next level.
The Raiders have a short break before returning to league action on Friday 2nd October, when they take on LL Galaxy B.
With new faces joining the squad and the opening win secured, the Raiders will be looking to carry that momentum into the next stage of the season.
