A new end-of-life pilot scheme from Borders NHS is proving to be a huge benefit to people wanting to stay in their own homes.

The Care Around Dying service operates across Galashiels, Lauder, Stow, Earlston, Melrose, and Selkirk.

It offers responsive seven-days-a-week support working closely with District Nursing Teams.

An NHS Borders spokesperson said: “A few months ago we introduced our one-year Care Around Dying pilot, which is testing a new model of care to provide additional support for people with palliative and end of life care needs who wish to remain at home.

“Since then, 51 patients have been added to the service, and we are delighted with the feedback families have shared about their experiences of the care and support provided.”

The pilot is delivered in partnership with Marie Curie UK, with funding from NHS Borders Health Charity through donations made to support palliative care.
