Bank of Scotland Penicuik
Written by Midlothian View Reporter, Liam Eunson
Lloyds Banking Group, who owns Bank of Scotland, has announced nearly 100 sites will close across the UK, including a Bank of Scotland branch in Penicuik.
The closure of Penicuik’s Bank of Scotland branch will leave only one site left in Midlothian, being Bank of Scotland Dalkeith.
The closure of 100 UK sites include 53 Lloyds, 31 Halifax and 11 Bank of Scotland’s.
Other Bank of Scotland branches planning to close amongst the Penicuik site include:
– Benbecula – July 1
– Blairgowrie – June 18
– Bridge Of Don – June 10
– Broughty Ferry – June 15
– Garrowhill – June 4
– Haddington – June 11
– Kelso – June 18
– Lochgilphead – June 22
– Rutherglen – June 11
– Stonehaven – June 18
– Penicuik – June 4
Lloyds have announced that they will have 610 UK branches remaining open after the closures are complete.
MSP Craig Hoy described the closures as ‘unacceptable’, requesting a meeting with Lloyds.
He said:
“I find it unacceptable that Bank of Scotland is once again closing vital branches, this time in densely populated towns such as Kelso, Haddington and Penicuik.
‘I have requested an urgent meeting with bank executives and will demand clear answers — including why these closures appear to have come out of the blue for residents, and what justification there is for shutting three well-used branches across South Scotland.”
