Loanhead Gala Day saw the sun shine for the crowning of the 112th Loanhead School Queen.

On Saturday 22nd June, primary school pupil Penny Simmonds was crowned the 112th Loanhead School Queen. She was serenaded at her house by MacTaggart Scott Loanhead Band.

From there, Penny and her Court marched through the town centre, reaching the location of the Crowning Ceremony; Fountain Green.

There was healthy crowds and a community feel as she was crowned by Mrs Irene Frame, and her companion Mrs June Johnston

They were then escorted from the stage by Gala Day Chairman Ross Perfect.

From there, the grand procession made its way around the town, accompanied by 13 bands.

Then the local community gathered together in Memorial Park, to enjoy an afternoon filled with entertainment. This included amongst many things, a large fairground, stalls, The Absurdist Pipe Band and face painting.

Overall, Loanhead Gala Day was a success with many happy faces.
