Jon Rahm speaking to the press today described the Scottish Open as one of his ‘favourite weeks’ due to its ‘great crowd’ and ‘great course.’ He went on to say how it would be ‘very special’ to join the ‘great champions’ that have won this tournament.
In terms of the course, he said that it looks a lot ‘healthier’ and he is a fan of the routing change of the holes at the Renaissance Club. He described it as thrilling, touching on the fact that there is now a reachable par 4, dependant on the direction of the wind, and a tricky par 3 in the final stretch.
When asked what makes a good links player Rahm stated that you need to have a great understanding of spin trajectory control, the roll and how the ball reacts.
Furthermore, he agreed that due to this event bringing LIV players and PGA Tour players together it could be looked back on in a couple of years as the start of a new chapter.
The Scottish Open starts this Thursday with the final round on Sunday.
