There’s something special about a community celebration in Midlothian. Whether it’s a Gala Day, a fun day, a festival or a village fête, these are the moments when communities come together, children make lifelong memories, and local pride shines through.
At its meeting on 23 June, Midlothian Council was delighted to recognise the enormous contribution these events make to the life of our towns and villages. Gala Days rightly remain a treasured tradition, and they are a huge part of a wider calendar of community celebrations that enrich Midlothian throughout the year.
None of these events happen by accident, or come easy. They rely on the dedication of volunteers, organising committees, Council staff, emergency services, local businesses and countless others who give their time, skills and enthusiasm to bring it all together.
These celebrations remind us that strong communities are built on shared experiences, kindness and civic pride. They strengthen friendships, support local organisations and create moments that stay with us for years to come.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helps make Midlothian’s Gala Days, fun days, festivals and fêtes such a success. Your efforts keep our communities vibrant, welcoming and connected.
