Heritage Hub, Hawick

An access to cash crisis in a Scottish Borders town has been averted.
A new banking hub has opened in Hawick to once more provide townsfolk with a facility from which to make withdrawals.
Hawick’s Santander bank and TSB branch located in the Heart of Hawick closed last year.
Meanwhile, the town’s The Bank of Scotland branch at 7 High Street in Hawick is due to close permanently on October 7.
The closures meant Hawick and its population of around 14,000 faced being without any in-person banking facility.
Now a temporary banking hub has opened at Heritage Hub on Kirkstile.
It is open to customers of all major banks and building societies for cash withdrawals and deposits, cheque deposits, balance enquiries, bill payments, and change-giving for small businesses.
Representatives from participating banks are also available on dedicated days each week in private consultation rooms for more complex account queries.
After the bank closures were announced LINK, the UK’s Cash Access and ATM network, confirmed that a new banking hub would be delivered in the town as a result.
Banking hubs are shared banking spaces, similar to a traditional bank branch, but available to all banking customers.
