Bowls Midlothian have added to their successful season with local bowlers recently bringing in double success for the county.

On Sunday at Sighthill, the Midlothian team of 10 players came out as winners of the prestigious inter county Calder Cup, bringing the trophy back to Midlothian for the first time in 14 years.

The winning team consisted of local bowlers Beth Ibbister, Jess Young, Emma Docherty,Jack Davidson, Kai Mchale, Lewis Linton, Paul Smith, Paddy Canavan , Roan Briggs, and Jack Bisset.

In the group stages they were undefeated v Dunbartonshire, Lanarkshire and Borders. Winning the Semi Final v East Lothian 5-2 and then a 7-0 Victory over Renfrewshire in the Final.

Then on Monday afternoon the Final of the 0ver 60’s Matt Purdie Inter County was held at Polmaise BC, Stirling where Edinburgh met Midlothian. This tournament started in 2009 and this was Edinburgh’s fourth Final having been winners 3 times. This all changed in a nail biting match where Midlothian came out on top by 67 shots to 65.
