Calum White, who grew up in The Inch, has landed a prestigious Dubai property award

An Edinburgh-born property entrepreneur has spoken of his pride after his Dubai real estate company was recognised as the city’s top-selling brokerage in designated freehold areas.
Calum White, who grew up in Edinburgh’s Inch area, founded White & Co. in 2021 after moving to the UAE a decade ago.
The rapidly-growing firm has been recognised by the Dubai Land Department (DLD) after completing more than 3,000 property transactions over the past 12 months.
The DLD is the government body responsible for regulating and recording property transactions, ownership and land development across Dubai.
Freehold areas allow foreign nationals to own property outright and include some of the city’s best-known communities, such as Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Hills Estate and Jumeirah Golf Estates.
For Mr White, 32, the recognition represents the biggest achievement for the company since it was established.
He said: “This is the most prestigious recognition a real estate brokerage in Dubai can receive because ultimately it comes down to the most important metric in our industry: transactions.
“This is the biggest accolade White & Co has received since we started the company. For me, there isn’t a bigger one and it is my proudest moment in business.
“We have been fortunate enough to win some fantastic awards over the years, including awards from the major property portals and international industry bodies.
“But when the Dubai Land Department tells you that you are No. 1, nobody can argue with it. It is based on the actual transactions taking place in the market.”
The award marks another milestone in the rapid growth of the company, which began operating from Motor City in Dubai.
White & Co generated revenue of £63 million (307 million UAE dirhams) in 2025, a 75 per cent increase on the previous year.
The company now employs around 700 people, with approximately 90 per cent coming from the UK.
Mr White said the scale of the company’s growth was difficult to imagine when he first established the business.
“When we started White & Co., I don’t think anyone expected us to do this,” he said.
“But it couldn’t have been achieved without our amazing team, who work tirelessly to get results for their clients and continue raising the standards in the market.
“For a company that has only been operating for just over five-and-a-half years, that is an unbelievable achievement and testament to the people we have working within the business.”
The latest recognition follows a string of awards for the company from property portals and international industry organisations.
Mr White said the DLD recognition was particularly significant because it was based directly on the number of transactions completed.
He added: “This award solidifies White & Co’s position in the marketplace.
“If you’re a seller, the argument is very simple: we are selling more property in Dubai’s freehold areas than any other brokerage.
“If you’re a buyer, we have access to an incredible amount of stock.”
Mr White moved from Edinburgh to the UAE around 10 years ago and has since built White & Co. into one of Dubai’s rapidly-growing property businesses.
