Glencorse Centre is inviting residents to get creative ahead of Christmas with a day of festive crafting workshops led by local artists and makers.

The Handmade Christmas Crafting Day will take place on Sunday, November 15, at Glencorse Centre in Auchendinny, offering visitors the chance to learn traditional craft skills and create their own decorations and handmade gifts.

Five local artists and craftspeople will lead six different activities throughout the day, with workshops suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more crafting experience.

Activities will include traditional Japanese Sashiko stitching with Cushy Butterfield, needle felting with Wild Felt and Christmas wire craft with Enrapt Handmade Jewellery.

Visitors can also try willow star weaving with Sofia from Cunning Folk Craft, make fairy lanterns with Moggie or create a winter wreath using natural, locally gathered materials.

Most workshops are suitable for beginners, with all materials and tools provided. Some activities require advance booking, while others will offer drop-in opportunities on the day. Prices vary depending on the workshop.

Natalie Biggs, event coordinator at Glencorse Centre, said: “Our Handmade Christmas Crafting Day is all about bringing people together through creativity and celebrating the wonderful talent of our local makers and artists.

“We wanted to create an opportunity for people to step away from the usual Christmas rush, try something different and enjoy a day of making something special with their own hands.

“We’re really pleased to be bringing together such a fantastic selection of local artists and craftspeople. From traditional Japanese Sashiko stitching and willow weaving to needle felting, wire jewellery and lantern making, there’s a wonderful variety of creative activities on offer.

“Whether you’ve never tried crafting before or already have plenty of experience, there’s something for everyone.”

The event has been organised to celebrate local creativity, traditional craft skills and growing interest in handmade and sustainable gifts.

It also forms part of Glencorse Centre’s wider festive programme, providing an opportunity for people to meet others, explore new hobbies and take home something unique to enjoy or give as a Christmas present.

Advance booking is recommended for workshops with limited spaces.
