An independent broadband company born in the Scottish Borders has just been named the UK’s fastest-growing in its sector.
Founded in Duns in 2017, GoFibre has more than quadrupled its turnover in two years.
That puts it top of its sector in the 2026 UK Fast Growth Index.
GoFibre, which specialises in providing lightning-fast broadband in rural and hard-to-reach areas, is also ranked fifth overall in Scotland, up from the ninth spot in last year’s list of Scotland’s fastest-growing companies.
Sam Calvert, Chief Commercial Officer at GoFibre, said: “GoFibre has had a phenomenal 2026, after a brilliant 2025.
“We’re thrilled to be leading the way for digital and technology companies in Scotland, as the fastest-growing in the sector and the fifth fastest-growing company in Scotland overall.
“This is testament to our growth ambitions, backed up by the hard work and ingenuity of our team including top quality engineering and industry-leading customer service.
“Our results in expanding our network across southern and north-east Scotland, strong customer growth and retention – including better than expected customer take-up in new build areas – demonstrates our success.
“We are proud to be an independent Scottish-based company, connecting communities to gigabit-capable broadband which will enable our rural and hard to reach communities to thrive and prosper.
“We are excited about further growth in 2027 and continuing to deliver our mission to improve digital connectivity and connect new communities.”
The 2026 UK Fast Growth Index reveals the 350 fastest-growing independent businesses across the UK’s nations and regions.
Together, they have more than doubled in size in just two years, with combined turnover rising from £4.3 billion in 2023 to £10.2 billion in 2025, an increase of 137 per cent.
Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE, founder UK Fast Growth Index, said: “GoFibre is a great example of the extraordinary talent and ambition we see in businesses across every part of the UK.
“Earning a place on this year’s Index, alongside firms that have together more than doubled in size in just two years, is a remarkable achievement, and the whole team should be very proud.
“At a time when we hear so much about the challenges facing the UK economy, businesses like GoFibre show what is possible when they are given the chance to grow.
“The challenge now is to help more of them become those incredible high-growth businesses that make a massive impact across the country.”
