A ‘skills gap’ has been identified on the board of the charitable trust which oversees cultural and leisure services in the Scottish Borders.

Live Borders works in partnership with Scottish Borders Council to manage public facilities and reinvest all revenue back into the community.

The chair of Live Borders Board of Trustees, Bill Douglas, recently approached SBC to advise that, in conducting a recent skills analysis, it has become apparent that there are current skills gaps within the board and that he considers it will better be able to perform its functions if these gaps are addressed.

The knowledge gaps come in the areas of Human Resources, Sport and Leisure and Culture.

When members of SBC’s Executive Committee meet next week they will be asked to rubber-stamp the appointment of three new independent directors to the board to fill the voids.

A report states: “It will assist the Live Borders Board better perform its functions and healthy lives and well-being are at he very heart of the Live Borders purposes.”
