East Lothian Council has published its latest report on housing services, highlighting the delivery of 71 new homes and high levels of tenant satisfaction.
The Landlord Report to Tenants covers the 12 months from April 2025 to March 2026, providing an overview of the council’s housing performance and how tenants’ rent money is spent.
During the year, the council completed more than 22,500 repairs, including 3,576 emergency repairs and 19,274 non-emergency repairs. Satisfaction with the repairs service was more than 88 per cent.
A further 149 kitchens and 871 doors and windows were installed as part of the council’s ongoing programme of improvements. The report also confirms that all statutory safety checks were completed.
Overall satisfaction with the housing service stood at almost 84 per cent.
Councillor Andy Forrest, the council’s spokesperson for Housing and Property Maintenance, said the report showed what the service was doing well while identifying areas where improvements were needed.
He highlighted the continued pressure on housing services from rising costs and high demand, with homelessness remaining a significant challenge.
The council said new policies and strategies aimed at reducing the number of empty properties and speeding up the process of re-letting homes were already showing improvements.
It added that work would continue to reduce the time people spend in temporary accommodation.
Tenants can read the full report on the council’s website, or request a paper copy by emailing the council or calling 0800 413 721.
