This year’s Queensferry Crossing Doors Open Day event saw 180 ballot winners given guided tours of the bridge, while many more attended an informative exhibition, and £9,542 was raised for BEAR Scotland’s national charity partner, Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

A public ballot for bridge tour tickets had attracted over 5,000 applications. The lucky winners enjoyed a rare behind-the-scenes experience, venturing inside the bridge’s box girder deck and on to the central walkway to see first-hand where the cable stays are anchored. The tours were led by experienced engineers from BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company.

The Forth Bridges Contact & Education Centre was also open to the public, featuring a special exhibition about the bridges, educational activities for children, a virtual reality demonstration, Forth Bridges art and photography, bridge merchandise, and a Scottish Roads Archive stand.

Everyone who attended had the chance to enter a charity raffle for one of five trips for two to the top of the Queensferry Crossing’s main towers. The lucky winners have now been drawn at random and notified.

Jamie Finlayson, BEAR Scotland’s South East Contract Director, said: “This year’s Queensferry Crossing Doors Open Day built on the success of last year’s inaugural event, with an enhanced exhibition in the education centre and some additional features on the tours inside the bridge.

“We really enjoyed showing members of the public the Queensferry Crossing up close and sharing our passion for the work that we do.

“We’re also delighted to have raised such a significant sum of money for CHAS.

“I’m particularly grateful for the generosity shown by members of the public who made donations to charity, and to our staff who volunteered to give up their weekend to work at the event.”

Scott Gibbins, Senior Partnership Executive at CHAS, said: “We are truly grateful to BEAR Scotland for supporting CHAS through Doors Open Day 2026. Our heartfelt thanks also go to everyone who donated through the ballot and joined us at the Forth Bridges Contact and Education Centre. Together, you raised an amazing £9,542, which will help CHAS provide unwavering care for children who may die young and their families across Scotland.”
